This weekend I went to California with my friend Stacie. We stayed at my cousin's house in San Diego and went to all four outlet malls in Southern Cali (we also went to the beach and stuff, but shopping stories are much more fun). I was scouring the Coach outlets lokking for a dog carrier for Bella. This is Bella, for those of you who don't know:

Anyway, I found one! For 50% off of the OUTLET price which was already $200 less than the retail price. I was so pumped. However, I can't decide if I want to keep it or sell it on Ebay. So I will put it to a vote. Should I keep the Coach bag:

Excorcist-style Projectile Vomiting

I have so many fun things to blog about that require the uploading of pictures I can't find, and as such, I have no fun things to blog about. More on that later...

However, I have received numerous requests for more posts about baby puke. "Seriously?", you're asking me. Yes. Seriously. Well anyway, ask and ye shall receive.

As you probably already know, I'm a nanny to a 9 month old boy and 3 year old girl. My family was visting recently from Connecticut, and so I took my two charges over to hang out with them while I was working. I was trying to distract the three year old with crafts, while I waited for my mom to get ready to run some errands, and I noticed the baby had put something in his mouth. I fished around in his slobbery pie-hole trying to get it out, but it was long gone. I figured if he was breathing and such, it was all good.

Later in the day (we're talking at least 2 hours), I was feeding him a bottle, when he started to spit up. I cleaned him up, and then continued to feed him. As soon as the bottle was done, his eyes got HUGE, and he proceed to projectile vomit Excorcist-style the entire contents of the bottle he had just eaten, plus I'm pretty sure just about everything he had previously eaten the past 978098 days.

I asked my little brother to grab me a towel, turned the baby to face me to clean him up, at which point he PUKED AGAIN all over me. TWICE. I'm telling you this kid must have a vast and bottomless stomach because we are talking quarts of puke. When he had finished, he just smiled at me, and I noticed something in his teeth. It was a tiny purple star sticker that his sister had been using to make crafts with earlier in the day. SERIOUSLY? I just endured Puke Fest '09 because he ate a tiny sticker the size of a pencil eraser??

It's all fun and games until someone gets doused in baby puke. Remember that.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday to student teach with the US Dept of Defense in...

I will be teaching fourth grade. I am so excited. I don't really know much else about it, I emailed the principal of the school today to get some more information. From what I have been able to research about Heidelberg, it sounds like a beautiful place. It even has a castle!

Heidelberg, one of the most beautiful cities in Germany, is nestled in the heart of the Neckar Valley about 70 miles south of Frankfurt. It is home to vineyards, medieval castles and fortifications.

I'm looking forward to these things in March:

Thing 1 - Spring Break - CABO!

Thing 2 - I applied to student teach with the US Department of Defense (I would teach in a school overseas on a US military base that serves the children of the soldiers stationed there), and I should hear back from my school this month to see whether or not I have a placement for this coming fall

Thing 3 - Financial Aid! Woot! Okay, I know, you are wondering why I am excited to hear from financial aid. Basically, since I turn 24 this year (see Thing 4), I was able to fill out my FAFSA without my parent's income/tax information which means they will base what finanancial aid I am awarded on just my measly salary which means I should get MORE which means more potential money for Thing 2 (student teaching abroad = expensive)

Thing 4 - My birthday! I'll be 24 on the 29th!

Thing 5 - Taking my teaching certification test. I would be boldfaced lying if I said I was excited for this test. It is 8 hours long and costs almost $200. However, it is kind of an exciting milestone because it means that I am one step closer to actually being a teacher, which means alot when you have been in school forever, like me.

I think we need to talk. I feel like since I have just listed many of the things that are so wonderful about you, I can give you this one piece of constructive criticism, you know, between us friends. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BRING THE 90 DEGREE WEATHER. Seriously, leave that job up to April or even May. I know, I chose to live in this desolate desert, but I would really, really, apprectiate just a few more weeks of the 70s and 80s before I have to return to paying $300 air conditioning bills.

So if you remember a few posts ago, I was gushing about the Electra bikes, which I still think are to die for but slightly (and by slightly I mean incredibly) out of my price range, so I got this one instead!

I also used pink zip ties to attach a little silver metal basket for the front so it's a little more ghetto than the other bikes, but it's mine! :)

My dearest Grey's Anatomy,

I hate to say this, but you're ruining my life. And, it has to be said, it's not me, it's you. You fill my head with thoughts of sutures and saline solutions, and I knew it was a problem when I thought to myself, "I wish we had a clean scalpel" when looking for a utensil to butter my bread. I can't sleep because my head is filled with dreams in which I'm trying to perform appendectomies and Whipples but, hello! I don't know how! I didn't go to med school! My areas of expertise lie more in the camp of teaching children to read and tie their shoes. The thing is, I don't want to break up. I just need some "me" time. In short, I can't quit you or McDreamy, but please ease up on dominating my daily thoughts, as I don't have much brainpower to spare.

Note to self- Teach future students to spell "appendectomies".

I don't know if it's my love of school supplies and books, or the fact that everything is so organized and has it's little place, or my love of all things vintage...but I want one!! I have looked everywhere! Apparently, there's this new thing called "computers" and people don't really use card catalogs anymore. Go figure. Find me one, mail it to me (the shipping should be cheap, I'm sure ;) and I will be your bestest best friend (which has many benefits, the least of which being I will let you come over and look at my beautiful card catalog).

Since I transferred from BYU to NAU and left my dismal GPA behind, I have been busting by buttocks to keep my GPA at a 4.0. Today, I logged into my account and look:

HAPPY! One more semester down, one to go.

Side note - am I the only person that thinks its kind of funny/ridiculous that when I went to BYU I worked somewhere between 0 and 30 hours per week (depending on the semester) and I came out with a * GPA, and now working 45-50 hours per week I have a 4.0?
I blame the rebellious company I kept (Hi Kira! Hey Manda! Hello Mere! Love you!)

*Actual GPA removed to protect your sensitive eyes, but it was somewhere between a C+ and a Z-. Oh what's that you say? You can't get a Z-? Maybe you can't, but at BYU I could have.

Vegas, Baby!

So this year for Thanksgiving, and more importantly Black Friday, I went to Vegas with some friends. We ate at a casino and I had the most horrible turkey dinner I've ever tasted. We decided we should at least try to gamble once, so on our way out of town, we hit up the slots at the gas station, where I promptly won $1 and then lost $2. Heartbreak. On the upside, I returned home with the following:

Sadly, at least two of them will be rehomed on Ebay, probably both Coach bags, but I think I will keep the Kate Spade (zebra) bag. It's actually a diaper bag (I know! For shame!) but it would make a great school tote.

Run, don't walk, (but I guess you could drive) to your nearest theater immediately and see this movie. Yea, it's kind of silly at points. Sure, the cinematography leaves little to be expected. And yes, ok, sometimes, Bella's voice makes her sound like a man (or at least a woman with a really bad throat problem). BUT....HELLO EDWARD! Seriously gorgeous.

Puke. All over. All over me, all over the floor, all over the chair, all over the couch...you get the idea. C (the little boy I nanny for) switched formulas and basically all he does is puke. Lovely, white, cottage-cheesy puke. As I was venturing forth from the puke encrusted living room to change his clothes, the bit of formula that did actually make it through his stomach and into his bowels shot out of his diaper in the form of diarrhea. However, never fear, because I, being super nanny, thought, no problem, I can handle this, I was going to change his clothes anyway. Ta-da! The glass is still half full. I got him cleaned up, and as I was re-dressing him I realized J (his older sister) had not used the big girl potty recently. So I said to her, "Let's go potty!" in my very most faux excited voice, at which point I turned to lay the baby in the middle of bed, and as I turned back around, I saw it. The little yellow trickle of pee. Running down her leg. In slow motion. I bolted across the room in time to move her from carpet to tile, but not quickly enough to stop the massive waterfall of pee that soaked her socks and ran in large puddles all over the floor. But again, the glass being half full, I thought, No problem, I can just throw all this into one big nasty bodily functions (BNBF) load of laundry with C's pukey laundry and it will be all good. I ran her a bath, loaded up the laundry machine, and took her into her bedroom to re-dress her. I laid C on the bed while I was getting new clothes for J, got her all dressed, and turned around to find that C had puked all over J's favorite blankie. The glass is beginning to look distinctly less full. I threw that into the BNBF load of laundry, read her a story, scooped up the baby, and shut her bedroom door. As I was walking back into the kitchen, C puked again. All.over.the.floor. I have to tell you my friends, the glass is not half full. It is not even half empty. It's pretty much like C drank the entire contents of the glass and then puked them all over the floor. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a very large load of laundry to put away.
